New Vista News

  • Tuesday Early Release Day  Early Release Day - Tuesday, August 23rd

    Every Tuesday will be an Early Release Day for New Vista students. Students will be released at 12:47 PM. Please arrange for an earlier pickup of your son or daughter if necessary.


     Back to School Night  

    Back to School Night is Scheduled for this Thursday, August 25th

    New Vista's Back to School Night is scheduled for August 25th. AVID Parent Meeting will be held at 5 PM in the school cafeteria with the general parent meeting starting at 5:15 PM. Classroom visits will start at 5:35 and continue until 7:00 PM.

    Come and visit your son's and daughter's classrooms. Visit with their teachers and learn what topics will be taught throughout the school year! Come and see what New Vista is offering the community!


    Lifetouch Pictures

    Picture Day is Scheduled for Thursday, September 1st

    Picture Day has is scheduled for next week on Thursday, September 1st. Pictures will be taken during PE classes. While the pictures are will be used for student identification cards and for yearbooks, parents can also order picture packages. Students will be bringing home picture order forms or order forms can be picked up at the Front Office. 

    Picture can also be ordered online. Visit mylifetouch.com and use Picture ID code  DC016372Y0. A variety of portrait packages can then be order or created.


    PBIS award  

    New Vista's PBIS Implementation Award - Bronze Medal

    With great pride, New Vista Middle School acknowledged the receipt of the Bronze Medal awarded by the California PBIS Coalation for successfully implementing the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports schoolwide. For more information about the California PBIS Program, click here.


    Robertson  DeFrancis

    Welcome to New Vista's New Assistant Principals!

    Welcome to the New Vista's two new Assistant Principals! Ms. Robertson and Mr. DeFrancis have joint Principal Cochran's administrative team. 

    • Ms. Robertson will be monitoring New Vista's sixth graders. Ms. Robertson comes to New Vista with fifteen + years in education. She has held several positions ranging from general education, teacher support and administration. She has served in the capacity of administrator for 3 years as Assistant Principal for Palmdale School District. She currently holds a Masters of Arts in Instruction and Curriculum with an emphasis in Leadership, a Bachelor of Arts, a Clear Administrative Service Credential, and Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Erie is looking forward to a fabulous year here at New Vista and working with a dynamic teaching staff who are all about student success.

    • Mr. DeFrancis will be monitoring the school's seventh graders. For the last 9 years, Mr. DeFrancis has worked as an educational specialist teacher for the Palmdale School District, educating at-risk students and mentally handicapped students. A firm believer that every child deserves a great education, Mr. DeFrancis invests himself in his students and their potentials. Currently, he is completing his doctoral program from Brandman University in Organizational Leadership and looks forward to being the new Assistant Principal at New Vista Middle School!

    Physcial Education (PE) Information

  • Bowers Cafe Con Leche

    Tune in to KUTY 1470 AM, Cafe Con Leche, at 8:00 AM on August 8th and 24th to hear Superintendent Michele Bowers speak about some important topics for our parents, students, and community. Topics include Board Trustee appointment, exciting new programs, facility improvements, and parent involvement. You may also listen on Cafe Con Leche radio.   • CARES

    The Lancaster School District is now enrolling for our CARES After School Program (it's free!). CARES offers students a nutritious snack, homework assistance, and both academic and recreational enrichment. It is available at the following school sites: Desert View, Discovery, El Dorado, Jack Northrop, Joshua, Lincoln, Linda Verde, Mariposa, Monte Vista, Sierra, and Sunnydale.   • blood drive

    Amargosa Creek Middle School is partnering with the American Red Cross to participate in a community service project called the Future Blood Donor Program to teach middle school students about blood donation, blood components and why local hospital patients need blood. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 1, 2016 at the Amargosa Creek MS Gym from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Support our students and school by donating blood and recruiting other blood donors.
